About Commissioning

What is commissioning?
Commissioning is a systematic quality-assurance process that verifies, through structured testing, that all mechanical, electrical and automation systems in a facility operate according to the design intent and operational requirements. The goal is a seamless handover to operations and assured operational continuity.
What is the difference between CxA and CxM?
The CxA (Commissioning Authority) is the independent, impartial authority that executes the commissioning process. CxM (Commissioning Management) is the service of planning, coordinating and managing all commissioning activities from design through operations. VeridusCx performs both roles.
What are data center commissioning levels (L1–L5)?
The levels are generally: L1 Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), L2 Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), L3 Functional Testing (individual systems), L4 Integrated System Testing (IST – scenario-based load tests), and L5 Operational Readiness (training and handover).
What does Tier III mean?
In the Uptime Institute classification, Tier III is a concurrently maintainable infrastructure level targeting roughly 99.982% annual availability. Redundant power and cooling paths allow maintenance without downtime.
What is a load bank test?
A load bank test simulates the real operating load before IT equipment is installed, verifying the thermal and electrical performance of power and cooling systems. It proves that data halls will operate safely at full capacity.
What is retro-commissioning?
Retro-commissioning is the process of re-testing and optimizing the systems of existing, in-service buildings to improve energy efficiency, reduce operating costs and extend equipment life.
